Designed for aquaponics

V-Gro towers were designed as the growing half of an aquaponic loop. Water from a fish tank rises through the tiers. Plant roots and grow media take up the nutrients the fish leave behind and act as a living biofilter, then cleaner water drains back below.

The yield study behind V-Gro even measured a biofiltration protocol, because that is what the tower was built to do. Aquaponics is where the design started.

THE EASY ON-RAMP

It runs hydroponics just as happily.

No fish, no problem. Swap the fish tank for a reservoir of nutrient solution and the same tower runs hydroponically. That's how most people start.

The loop doesn't care where the nutrients come from. The tower doesn't change; only what sits in the base does.

Aquaponics or hydroponics?

What's the difference between aquaponics and hydroponics?

In aquaponics, fish waste feeds the plants and the plants clean the water for the fish, a living loop. In hydroponics, you feed the plants a mineral nutrient solution directly. Same tower either way.

Which should I start with?

Hydroponics is the simpler start: no fish to keep, just a reservoir to top up. Aquaponics rewards the extra care with a system that feeds itself. Many growers start hydro and graduate to aqua.

Can I switch later?

Yes. The tower itself doesn't change. What changes is what's in the base: a nutrient reservoir, or plumbing to a fish tank.
